All depends on many different factors:

engine fresh or a dud?

tuned properly or choking for fuel?

any aftermarket parts?

nitrous?

balancing/blueprinting/engine rebuilt?

stock copmpression or lowered?

any forged parts?

what fuel octane?

knowledgable tuner?

that's just for starters, imo......

Welcome to SaturnFans!
On a stock engine? Basically 0.

If you are not a one-post-wonder head over to SixthSphere and read everyday for about 3 months. Then create an account and go from there. Boosting a Saturn isn't for the faint of heart.

Probably be cheaper to buy a boosted VW gasser or a 1997-2001 SUper DUty Ford p/u. ANd either or would work much better.

With good everything, 4 or 5 is probably pretty reasonable. But fuel control is the biggest issue. Most NA engines in good shape can handle about 4 or 5 pounds without any drama.

But I'd advise you as someone else already has, just go buy a turbo car. There are lots of great cars from the 80's and 90's that already have turbos. Cars with stock turbos tend to have very well setup engines and can take much more boost that they left the factory with.

For the cost of turboing a Saturn decently, you can buy a car that is turboed from the factory. In many ways this is the best solution, but I think the most outstanding part of this idea is that you get to into into turbocharging by seeing how a car manufacture did it. Crawling through a factory turboed car will teach you a lot about what you need to know if you ever want to turbo a NA car in the future.

As I said there are lots of cheap turbo cars out there to sharpen your teeth on. Old Dodge and Mitsubishi cars can be for little.

I vote for starting out with a full 20psi and see how long it lasts...but don't plan on much longer than 10 minutes without spending more than a modified '90's AWD Eclipse goes for.

...
The proper way to fix a S-Series automatic is to replace it with a 5spd O:)

Saturn Engines were not built for performance, Racing is not in the breed its advised to keep the RPMs under 3 grand to reduce oil consumption, Boosting a Saturn 1.9 and running it at 5 grand all the time is a bad idea, It will put alot of stress on the rotating assembly and use oil like mad, dont do it.

join up on sixthsphere to get some turbo pointers. Plenty of boosted turds on there. If you have the knowledge and the cash its plenty safe to boost.

There is a build running 15lbs right now. So I don't think you are aware that you aren't giving good advice. But, of course if you use a weak ass turbo kit you can't do anything.

If they can do it on Fast and Furious, then my Saturn can definitely do it
