1997 SL2
Dizzy 2000 LS2 speaker/radio installation

Okay, this is for a friend of mine.. she's asked me to replace the speakers and radio deck in her LS2. problem is, best I've been able to come up with here are the specs for the speakers:

* 6.5" up front
* 5.25" in the rear
* 3/4"-1" spacer to go in between the door panel and speaker for the front speakers (from my understanding it's mostly for the window glass IIRC)

...correct? ALSO: there's only two fronts and two rears, right?

Now, the questions I have are these:

1. how does one R&R the front inside door panel or the speaker grille if it's that simple (and if there's pictures and/or a video it'll help greatly )?
2. how does one gain access to the rear speakers; is it like the S-series where it's in a package tray? if so, how does one R&R that?
3. what be the wiring codes for the speakers? is it the same as the S-series, or is there something complicated?
and 4. ultimately, how does one gain access to the radio deck? is it like gen-2 S-series where I have to pop off the center console and I'm in, or do I have to dig through the dash/steering column like in gen-3 S-series, or...?

Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

OK, Google actually just turned this up for the front door panel:

http://www.ehow.com/how_6572901_apar...oor-panel.html

However, the source is from a HAYNES manual, which in my experiences from the S-series section, unless it's an actual FSM, it's not worth the paper it's printed on. In any case, is this accurate?

Those instructions aren't even close. I wrote this up a while ago for the rear panel-

The front is similar, but you also have the mirror control switch to remove and there are a few screws securing the bottom edge to the door.

that's what I thought. ( haynes manuals...) thanks for the write-up, I'll be sure to go over that and compare it to what I found on alldata this afternoon (I'm going to college right now for auto and diesel mechanics). I also found there how to R&R the control console where the radio is.. I must say it's actually easier to do than any S-series on the road

however, the alldata didn't mention anything about speaker spacers though... judging by your write-up, all I have to do is remove the tweeter cover (which is IIRC the front door speakers) in addition to everything else in your write-up to get to the speaker, right? Or does the door panel still have to come all off?

I also found on alldata that there's also a subwoofer underneath the rear package tray (depending on options).. is the rear package tray R&R the same way as it is on the S-series?

**BUMP**

anyone?

also I found stuff about tweeter speakers, woofer speakers, and the subwoofer.. what does all this mean actually?

(keep in mind I'm used to swapping out four speakers (two in front two in back) so I have no idea what they're talking about...)
