Do you have voltage coming out of the switch or just going in?

The backup lights on my 98 have never worked since I've owned it. If I pop the connector off the shift tower switch and short the harness conductors together, they come on. I bought a new switch but no joy. Not much help, sorry.

Wrench Re: Backup lights...

I think the problem lies in the UHJB (fusebox)...

According to the diagram,
power goes to the fuse,
then to the switch,
then BACK to the fusebox,
then to the backup lights...

I think if you check, you have power going into the fusebox, the second time,
but NOT out to the backup lights...

Options, opinions?

I think removing the jumper, and adding a second fuse to the fusebox, may be the best move...

Gotta then check for broken wire that commonly feeds both reverse bulbs, OR really make sure that both bulbs are GOOD and not having a dangling filament.
