Dizzy Clicking when turning left

After buttoning up my daughter's 2000 SL2 with a replaced passenger side driveshaft and oil pan, now we are starting to hear a slight clicking sound when turning left and applying power.

I'd say this means I have to replace the driver's side axle shaft/CV joints, just wanted to confirm with you folks. Sounds like I also have to replace the transaxle fluid as well.

Am I correct?

If it's only a slight clicking noise you may be able to just replace the CV boot and grease. Did you check the boot in question to see if it was damaged/torn? I've only had a clicking CV shaft twice in all my years with FWD cars, once I was able to just replace the boot and repack it with grease, the other time the damage was so bad I had to replace the whole shaft and CV assembly.

The boots are in good shape, I had this shaft out of the car last week when I thought I was going to have to pull the transmission.

Unless others here can suggest something else, I think I'll end up replacing the entire shaft and CV joints with a new one. $50.79 from Rock Auto. The car has 180,000 miles on it!

I got my axles for $14 (already removed from the car) from August Pohl (junkyard) in Benton Harbor, MI. Depending on where you are in NW IN, might be worth a drive, or maybe find comparable used ones near you by using www.car-part.com

OldNuc's written a couple of times on how to test them before buying. I can find one of them by searching under my user name if you're interested (search for "replace" in the thread title; I had a torn boot and asked about repairing or replacing)

One easy thing to check. Look at the passenger side wheel well at the brake line. It should curve to the rear of the car. It's possible that you twisted it to the front. If you did, it's an easy fix.
