Thumbs Up New Saturn in the Family!!!

This past Monday my sister's 2000 Pontiac Grand Am was totalled in a front end collision. She rear-ended a 2007 Toyota Camry.

She was ok, her face was a little sore from the airbag going off. The insurance company totalled her car. The good news is she got a Saturn!

We found a 2001 SL1 Silver Blue/Black interior, automatic, all power, CD with 63,000 miles on it for $4800. I think it was a great deal, considering the shape it was in. She got it used from a Buick/Pontiac/GMC dealer in Toccoa, GA. It was bought new in 2001 in Michigan and then moved to Georgia in 2003. It's a great looking car and I love the color combination!

I think this will be a much better car for her. Her Grand Am had problems from the time she got it at 72K until recently at 104K. My dad and I JUST replaced the lower intake manifold gasket on the car about 2 months before the accident. That was a nightmare! She had a lot of problems with passlock not letting the car start, air conditioning blowing hot, then cold the next, and numerous fit and finish problems.

I think this new Saturn will last much longer, given the reliability of Saturn S automatics and the 100 hp SOHC engine. Since my dad and I have fixed over 16 of these now, we know what to look for and how to fix it .

That would have been the first of many, and next on the list are power window regulators, multi function switch (turn sig, etc) and then probably a TCC solenoid. Grand Ams are just junk. Great cars if you leased them. If not, geez.

The new one looks nice, and I agree, a very nice colour combo.

Oh we actually did have to replace the driver's window power regulator, and the multi function switch was on the fritz too. You'd just be driving down the road and the "click click click" sound of the turn signal would go off.

Actually it was the other way around, the Camry took out her car! The Camry just has a disconnected bumper, and some trunk pan damage. The Camry basically got pushed up on top of her car, so hers had the majority of the damage.
