1997 SL1
Attention 1994 saturn sl1 code 26. help please

I have had my saturn short time bought used cept maitance up , but just had serve engine linght came on , got code 26 , when to saturn and had the anilize all sensor checked ok, suggested cleaning egr, but have problem , with cooling fan not coming on with a/c. and car sum times after startin can detect gas or rotin egg smell , have purchased ets sensor and new connector, witch i will replace tommorrow see what happens. let yah . know . thanks for any in put.

Does the cooling fan come on when you turn on the A/C? If not, then its probably the cooling fan relay and thats why you are seeing the code 26. But by your description, sounds like you may have multiple problems.

26 is a quad driver fault, and is most often caused by aging egr and canister purge solenoids. The only way to tell for sure is to measure resistance across the connector terminals when hot.

I just replace them on an older car with that code - Unless, there is something else on the quad driver circuit whic is malfunctioning - upshift lamp, ac compressor, cooling fan etc...

The rotten egg smell is usually a plugged catalytic converter.

sulfur/Rotten egg smell is sullfur content in gasoline. a plugged cat doesn't smell like anything...

Sulfur smell is most prevalent in newer catalytics, and at "second tier" gas stations where the refining process isn't as great at removing sulfur.
