Default Another quality new four seasons compressor :(

Sadly there are just no quality compressors made for these cars. This is after less than a week.

The plate over the scroll valve. The Vue uses a scroll compressor.
The electrical connector was also bad so I had to solder it.

With random youtube videos, I came across interesting radial engines for WWI aircraft. Rotec supposedly manufactures radial engines as replacements for engines no longer made. Unfortunately, the owners of these aircraft display what appears to be poorly made engines with less than aircraft quality manufacturing. The mechanical beauty of nine cylinder radial engines is testament to machining skills and all the mechanics from a bygone era that serviced them during WWI and WWII. It's even more wondrous with two and three row radials..........

Unfortunately, Rotec radial engines appear to be a poorly manufactured as several videos shows extensive damage to custom built biplanes replicating a bygone era. Owners wishing to use radial engines are disappointed when these engines fail below 50 hours.

Why aftermarket ac compressors fail is a total mystery to me. I tend to view them, vane, piston or scroll type as not rocket science and just plain mechanical engineering using sound principles with years of exposure to refine and improve them. Rotec radial engines may not be manufactured at the level of a Pratt and Whitney or even Packard when auto manufacturers switched from cars to airplanes. Machining is the same whether for car engines or aircraft with different considerations for air cooled engines yet still made by auto manufacturers during WWII. Ac compressors aren't complicated yet there seems to be either a lack of engineering expertise or manufacturing quality that's missing here.

AC Delco. Sure they are about twice the price of a Chinese compressor but what is your time worth to do this again?

Are they just rebranded the same Chinese compressors?

The OEM AC Delco should be made in North America.

The Portuguese make good stuff. I'd say it's on par with Germany and most other EU countries.
