Default Goodbye Connecticut Dealership

http://www.courant.com/business/hc-m...,6362716.story

It's a shame to see the dealer I bought my Saturn from go under...They operated 'Saturn of Berlin', which closed and was folded into 'Saturn of Hartford'. Now the Hartford dealer folded, I feel bad for those folk.

On the bright side Ingersoll's two Saturn dealerships are still around, and they're fairly local as well. Hope they hold on...

Sorry to hear that.
How far do you have to drive to your closest dealership?

Yes, a few years ago, this happened along the Conn coast, when Saturn of Branford closed and the customer base (and my free oil changes) were absorbed by Saturn of Wallingford. I like the Wallingford dealership, but it's more than 15 miles, and Branford was around 2 miles from me. I sure hope the Wallingford store survives!

If it makes you feel any better, out here on the 'great' plains my closest dealer is 2-hours away, second closest is 3-hours away, third closest is 5-hours+ but it is all interstate driving at least.

There are a bunch of Saturn dealers down here in southern CT. There are dealers in Danbury, Milford, Fairfield, and White Plains (NY). The Danbury dealer is probably about 45-50 minutes away from Berlin. There's also Wallingford and Watertown which are up north and not that far a drive from Berlin. CT seems to be well stocked up on Saturn dealers (for now).

Cheers,

The Watertown dealer is my next closest, about 15 miles. Though my business is only 5 miles up the road from the Danbury dealer.

It was rather surprising having Hartford go out like that, we were there a week ago for service on my wifes' SL2,

Ah well, can't wait for Obama to pay my mortgage and make my car payment....

Anyone been forgiven their car loan yet? figured with the taxpayer bailout and all

Mine came from Stamford but we did take it to Milford for service before.

I bought the VERY last Saturn, and Astra of course, from the Saturn dealership in Pickering, Ontario on October 1, 2009. Remember how they used to do that clapping thing when you drove the car out of the dealership? Well, they still did it when I drove out, but you could tell they weren't too happy about it. God bless them.

No way! My first Blue 5dr Astra was from Pickering Saturn and my mom was always in a Saab (8 years - 4 Saabs) before GM got rid of it. Wanted to buy my second Astra from them but they didn't want to transfer stock from Toronto and I ended up purchasing my white 3dr from Humberview which surprisingly had 2 identical white 3dr with the vin numbers being 1 off.

Mine was some sort of demo, with about 400km on the ODO. There was a nice black XR3 there, which I would have bought, but it was already sold. The Saab was on its way to being transfered out to a different dealer I think.

Here it was the day I bought it.

A lot of Astras were "demos" or sold as "used". Wondered if that was some scheme on the government bailout.

Maybe I don't know..mine was the last one in the dealership, aside from the black one that was already sold. Not sure what the scheme might have been.
