Dizzy No heat please help

2004 Saturn Ion sedan

Just replace motor with a new Autozone thermostat and cant get heat. I did notice lower radiator on drivers side hose has a minor leak so I will fix that.

Any ideas how to burp the system to get heat or do you think I got a faulty thermostat?

Fixed lower radiatir hose leak. Upper hose still gets hot and lower radiator hose cold. It acts like my brand new Duralast thermostat is stuck closed?

Coolant is gurggling in the expanion tank.

Any idea guys? That thermostat is a pain to get to when the engine is in the engine bay. Wow

maybe you have a blown head gasket. pressure test the cooling system with the spark plugs out.

Did you put Tstat in the right direction? Never use Autozone crap Tstats. Use Stant super stats. Yes cost more but an overheat can result in bad headgasket costing 100dreds more for repair.

Thumbs Up Re: No heat please help

This motor ran just fine as I drove the car to work many times before removing the engine. It only has 127,000 miles on the motor.

The t-stat can only go in one way on the 2.2 ecotec. Impossible to put t-stat in backwards as the t-stat housing has a 90 degree elbow that won't allow reverse installation of t-stat.

I think im going to replace that Autozone t-stat and just be done with it.

You were right I installed thermostat backwards. T-stat goes in first then the black plastic coupler then the t-stat housing. I had it all backwards.
