I agree. 3rd will do 70 pretty handily and then some. I've owned mine long enough and with enough miles to be able to beat it up some when needed and it pretty regularly hits 70 in third when getting on the speedway in NJ.

I also agree that a downshift when going uphill at highway speeds would not be a problem, it really needs a taller 5th gear. I downshift to fourth when doing 70 on the highway anyway.

I didn't intend for the flash to go off, but it ended up being the best photo of the two haha. I used just about 3/4 of a tank driving 65-75 with the A/C on 50% of the time over a 230 mile journey. Not too impressed, but I think thats about in line with the actual MPG I should expect, I think we're supposed to get 310 miles out of a tank. Still, I think the 4 cylinder could handle 75 at 2,700 rpm just as well.
I've been getting 360 on winter gas every time for a long time on mostly highway. Closer to 400 in the summer for a long time. Mine's around the same RPMs as yours at highway speeds. I use the AC during the summer and I never really notice that much of a difference in fuel mileage on the highway.

Maybe temperature is a factor in FL, but the difference seems a little extreme to me.

Hmm, maybe I should seafoam it or something. I'll have to check what I got out of that tank. I think I'm at 244ish miles and I'm just above 1/4 tank right now. My +/-2 mile drive to work that takes 15-20 minutes due to traffic butchers my MPG I'm sure.

Seriously? 2 miles? And it takes you 15-20 minutes? You know the average person walks about 3-4 mph. Let's say 3 mph- that's a mile every 20 minutes. If you speed it up and push it to 5 mph, you can do a mile in 12 minutes. Therefore you can almost walk nearly as fast as driving.

Yeah, luckily my dad showed me a back route that takes like 7ish minutes instead. The area is pretty rough though so walking isn't really an option lol.

My old commute was 2.4 miles and took on average 20 minutes. My record was 48 minutes.

My new commute is 15 miles and takes about the same amount of time - all highway though.

I had a 12ish mile trip to school. It took me 45 minutes or so most days.

The wonders of Florida traffic.

If you're in Wesley Chapel and anywhere near USF and the student apartments, I would just drive the long way. Those are some very rough areas. I sure as hell wouldn't walk through them.
