It seems like ive seen this issue on the website before but its been a long time (since christmas atleast lol) since i was on last, but, has anyone else had this problem? mine has been on the passenger side only and ive actually had the assembly warranteed but no more then 2 days after, the new one was also fogging. is it a seal issue around the lens or is it in the back where the bulbs install at? any help appreciated, Thanks!

I'm presuming you are referring to condensation appearing inside? It would be highly unlikely for water to be gaining entry from the back side, since the front face is really the only surface actually exposed to rain. Water usually gets in along the top edge below the hood line, or at the bottom where it wicks up when enough water sits on top of the bumper. Is it just a faint fog forming, or are you seeing actual water droplets?

If it is just as bad as before, I'd say take it back and deal with the same service writer and mechanic as last time. If they warrantied it the first time for "x" amount of water getting inside, they've already admitted that "x" amount is too much.

I agree if it's under warranty, take it back till you're satisfied. I had a similar problem several years ago with my 01 SC2, and was told it likely was the seal around the bulbs; they wear out just enough to let in enough moisture to form condensation when temperature/humidity change.

Yea, it almost seems like a fogging for a lil bit but as time goes on you can start to see where water pools at the bottom of the lens (and the snow we've had over the last couple months hasnt helped.) I guess the main reason i asked was if someone may have known a simple solution to this or if this has been a wide spread problem. I mean no more than 2 or 3 days later it was already gathering water. Thanks for input!

Did you change out a parking lamp or turn signal bulb? I had one that suddenly was fogging, and getting water droplets inside. I checked and discovered that the access cover (round cap) wasn't seated properly.
There are small rubber tube drains at the bottom, and also part way up near the fender side. Make sure they're not clogged.

Is it water droplets or just a hazy fog? I had a permanent hazy fog inside of my Astra D/S headlamp. The service dept tried telling me that they were all like that. I called BS on that. As I worked for Saturn at the time, I waited till it got dark and fired up a few Astra headlamps then called the jerk out of service to the lot and showed him they were not all like that. Got it replaced under warranty the next day.

On the other hand, occasionally you may get some tiny droplets of moisture in your head or tail lamps, especially if it is very cold and humid. Once it warms up the moisture should go away, usually in a few hours. If the moisture remains longer than a day, then you definitely have a defect and should take it in.

Its not a fogging so much as it is condensation droplets

I would 1st check on what SaturnRaycer suggests, check the bulb opening seals, make sure they are tight. If possible, park it in a garage and see if the warmth helps. If the moisture hasn't disappeared in a day or so, take it into the shop for warranty. Avoid hard blasting car washes also (fogged up my tail lamp, the moisture cleared the next day though).

RobD,

If you are still getting fogging and lamp/reflector unit has been replaced, it might do you well to look at the back side where the protective covers for the headlamp socket and parking/turn sockets are. If the seal is compromised there, you will get condensation inside the housing. I don't recall if you changed the parking lamps and/or turn lights out for LED replacements. If you put the LED's back in after the lamp housing was replaced, that could be the source of the fogging. Ditto if you are running HID headlamp units.

This should be the first step, and it will take a few days to see results. After I reseated the parking/turn lamp protective cover, it took the better part of a week for all the condensation to leave. Since then, I've had no problems.

I'm just sayin'...

No, dont get me wrong, i appreciate the input. right now its been cool but havent had the moisture in the air to test it out again. its supposed to be later this week when we get some rain so im just waiting to see what happens. But then again, it doesnt do it everytime it rains. if it sticks around a couple days thats when it goes crazy and builds up so im just waiting and watching now...

P.S.
didnt replace them with LED or have an HID setup, not a bad idea though lol What i have been runnin are the iridescent (spelling?) SilverStar bulbs.
