Can someone confirm the part numbers? I've read all of the forum, and realize there are different part numbers for those with/without factory installed remote start (AP3 vs. AP8).

I have factory remote start in my 2008 XR, but perhaps we can post the p/n's for both cases:

I believe I've seen three part numbers listed:
19156553
19216164
19171129
Can anyone confirm which is the correct one?

P.S. gregh2000 and bc3tech-- I am in Maple Grove and work in EP. Not too far from either of you

If you have factory remote start then you should be able to get away with the AP3 one that I used. I think you can go to a dealer and have them get the feature codes off your vin and verify. They will have to program it anyway.

Well after like way too stinking long of not getting my module programmed I finally got it programmed and have the 2-way remote start....There is definitely a "cool factor" to the HUGE Fob that has your mileage, fuel, time, and tire pressure. I have not had the chance to try the distance out but will tomorrow at school. I also love the ability to get verification of the vehicle running without having to look at it as well as having the countdown timer. Dealer charged me $90 to program the module, and I installed it.

I don't know why this works but if you hold the key fob to your head you can get about 300 ft. or more. I guess it uses your body as an antenna. Probably get cancer 10 years down the road. I saw this on TV some where and first thing I did was run out and tried it and it works. goodluck

It's always worked like that...........put it under your chin then innocent bystanders wont think your holding a gun to your head. Beware of teeth falling out.

What kind of picture are you looking for? All you can really see is the remote you hold and the antenna that is supposed to be stuck to the glass but mine is in the rear deck still, lol.

How is your range...mine is horrible I can sit inside my apartment and my car is like 200 ft away and I don't get a return from the car with status update.

Mine is pretty good. I can start it from my apartment or in a mall parking lot from the building. I really haven't had much trouble with it. I can unlock it from far away too.

Like in my apartment i am on the 3rd floor and the car is on the other side of the building parked somewhere and it always works. I can start it from several floors down in a parking garage too like the airport or something.

I will start keeping an eye on the range to see how far it really is.

yes a picture of the antenna would be good. I was trying to get on from ebay since it was $99 and i asked the guy if it had an antenna and he said he didn't see one. Missed out on the auction by asking to many questioned and it was his last one.

Ok, I will try to take some pics of it when I am out driving tomorrow. The under chin trick doesn't seem to do anything with the 2 way remote. Maybe because it already has an antenna sticking up out of it, lol. I used to do that with the old 1 way remote and it worked, but doesn't do much now.

The contents of my kit were 2 remotes, 1 lcd, one that looks like the factory remote start remote, the keyless entry module, and the antenna with a cord on it long enough to go from the center of the rear deck to the top center of the rear window, installation instructions, and the operation manual.

If you don't have factory remote start now then there are extra parts like some sort of hood sensor.

Thanks Gregh, I do have the factory remote start. Was there a module that has to be changed also or was that for the none factory remote start?

You have to change the module out. As in remove the one that is there and replace it with the new one that has an antenna connection. Then the dealer has to program it and the remotes.

So when you are done, you are left with the 2 remotes that came with the car and the old module. All of them are now useless. You can't use the old remotes with the new receiver as they are different somehow and cannot be programmed to the new box.

Just received my kit in the mail today, going Thursday to have it programmed. Mine did not come with installation instructions, does anyone have them that can send them to me? I managed to pull the old one down and I can switch it out in 30 seconds, but my dealer has never done this before, so I would like to have them for the dealer.

The dealer should be able to get them off the GM website. That's where the directions I got came from, they had printed them and stuck them in the box.
