Arrow Are 2004 V6 Honda transmissions reliable? Help! I found a 88K and need to act quick

I found an 04 Vue V6 AWD 88K miles (!) with Honda engine and transmission.

Many of those mile have been towed behind an RV.

I would have bought it today if not for the transmission slipping, once and only once. I gunned it while moving about 30 MPH and the RPM shot up to 6K and pulsed. I immediately backed off the pedal and it immediately corrected. Over the next hour I was unable to reproduce this problem.

There are posts on CarComplaints, a website I know nothing about, that talk about the transmission failing in the Honda V6 (not the CVT) due to overheating caused by a faulty valve body.

CORRECTION should say it ALL!!!

Honda did transmission recalls in 2004. Saturn Vue 04-07 used Honda Power train on V6 AWD. GM NEVER recalled it and knows little about Honda power train or that they used Honda! Lube valve update is critical! Mine failed on interstate! Lube valves failed to cool transmission and overheated it and torque converter.

2004 Saturn VUE V6 HONDA Engine-Transmission @114,000 miles. Honda had a recall for a transmission defect in 2004 and settled a class action lawsuit in 2006. Saturn never issued a recall. Now I'm facing a $4,000 repair. This is a total disgrace. Called GM and Honda - complete waste of time.
However, there are very few mentions of this problem on SaturnFans.

I've owned my '03 since it was new. For years I've been looking for a low mileage '04-'07 and here it is. Like I said, I'd have bought it already if not for the trans slip.

The one I'm looking at is 2005, not 2004. My mistake.

Those reports at complaints.com are for a 2004.

I started another thread in Vue General:

Single slip, could not reproduce sounds like old/low fluid. Once fluid is up to temp, prevents reproduction.

See about having the trans fluid checked for level and discoloration/burn.
