Default well, i did it: Dunlop SP Sport 5000

We had our first really bad snow day in southwest michigan, so I plunked down money and had discount tire order the Dunlops (for tires, installation, balancing, etc. it's $415). They'll replace my horrible OEMs. I'll let you know how they work!

I know what You mean by those horrible OEM saturn Firestone's! I am getting My new 2001 SL2 next week & told the Dealer I would not buy the Car with those Firestone's. So i told them I wanted "Pirelli P400's" and they will put the Pirelli's on My Car...I only pay the difference in price, sound's like a good deal to Me as i also live in a Snowy area- "Buffalo,NY.".....Congradulation's on the new Tire's!!

That gives me a good idea...maybe I'll buy the SP5000's right before I'm due to take my car in for tire rotation...since they'd have to put the wheels on *anyway*, I wonder if they'd do it as part of the service....

Andy, what size tire did you get? 205/60/R15? I don't recall the SP5000's being available at 195/60/R15, so I bought a set of Michelin Pilot XGT-H4's. When you get the tires mounted, please tell us about the phenomenal difference in ride and handling. Welcome to the club of people who ditched their Firestones!

I ordered them as The SP5000 Asymmetrical 205/55/15, as people on this group and the TireRack people recommended that size for our wheels.

Ahhh, this will be such a relief! I swear, with those Firestones, if it's at *all* rainy or snowy... I could get better traction by riding on the wheel rims.

I'll let you know how they work out!

The Dunlops are installed. I have a review posted in the <!--http--><a href="http://www.saturnfans.com/cgi-bin/UltraBoard/UltraBoard.pl?Action=ShowPost&Category=&Board=10&P ost=127&ID=&Idle=365&Sort=0&Order=Descend&Page=0" target="_blank">Mods & Performance</a><!--url--> section. Check it out!

Thanks,

Andy

I also put the sp5000 on my LS about 4,000 miles ago... bumped up to the bigger size at the same time. You will continue to be happy with your choice.
