Default 1991 Saturn Sport Coupe (SC)

My grandson has a 1991 Saturn Sport Coupe (SC) that is in need of a passenger side lower engine mount rubber bushing. He tells me the bushing only fits the 1991 Saturn. Does anyone have one? Please contact me at alanmende(at)yahoo(dot)com.

Thank you.

Here are the part numbers and diagrams if that helps any. These will be almost impossible to find I imagine.

Wow, radically different from later years.

I think "rebuilding" it using castable urethane would be most practical, but the material alone would not be cheap ($50-75?). I am probably willing to give it a try; free except for material and shipping. I will need pictures of it, if you want to discuss further. Which number is it in the diagram above? That is a start.

Yes and they had different parts for with AC and without and auto vs manual too. I wonder how bad it was to change them out after the first year. Was it to reduce the parts variance or to resolve an engineering failure.

Knock on wood, other than changing the side motor mounts (passenger's side with cables and solid rubber mount on the driver's side) once in over 222,000 miles, nothing has failed on my '91 SC yet. Makes me wonder why the design was changed at all.

1991 Was the first model year for Saturn. There were less then 50,000 overall cars that were built in that first year. There were ~10,000 Sport Coupes that were built in that first year- while the rest were Sedans.

The 1991 model year cars, are specific to that model year....Not much interchanges with them- because even the 1992/1993 model year cars- while still being first gen cars- have minor differences, where you won't be able to retrofit parts to a 1991 car. Even the Transmission Gear ratios are different in the 1991 model year, compared to a 1992 or 1993 model year car; from an automatic and manual transmission gearing ratio.

You'll also note that aside from these design changes- the first model year cars, also didn't have an upper motor mount and the Oil Pressure gauge was discontinued after the first model year too- because of Customer complaints that the Oil pressure gauge was not working properly.

Continuous improvements, is the reason for the change. The first model year also suffered from a Coolant issue- which led to some Customers cars being returned to the Dealership, and either full Coolant system replacement or brand new cars, were given to Customers over the Coolant issues.
