Default SL1 SOHC - Run away engine - Help!

My PCM gave me a 32 code so I cleaned the EGR valve. On assembly the engine raced wildly. So I cheched all vaccum hoses and replaced the suspect ones. Still races wildly?? Seems like aI have a vacuum leak somewhere but can't locate it. Its doing the same thing that happened when I knocked off the brake vaccum booster hose from the back of the intake manifold, but I checked and its in the hole solid. Any Ideas would halp at this point as I spent 5 hours on it today to no avail. H E L P !

racing wildely... does this mean that it revs until the PCM enables the rev limiter at 4k rpms?? racing wildely doesnt point to a vacuum leak, normally a vacuum leak makes the engine idle a little high, like 1.5k or 2. If you cleaned the EGR it shouldnt really race.. check all the connections. Do you have any codes being generated after this? maybe the throttle cable got hung up being that it is a SOHC and the egr is on the intake manifold.

Check the PCV valve going into the valve cover, make sure the hose isn't brittle and cracked. With the hose going to the intake to the PCV, you will never see it, it will make it idle at about 2500-3000 rpm. Check that, and make surethere isn't any vacuum leaks around the PCV.

My 95 SL1 did almost the same thing with a very high idle. It turned out to be the oxygen sensor.

Did you double check the EGR diaphram when you had it out? (e.g. depress pintle, block vacuum hole with finger and see if it holds)

You could also check the ohms across the egr solenoid and make sure it is still good.
