Question ticking sound when starting

When my 06 VUE is started, there is a rapid ticking sound somewhere in the dash that goes away after about 5 or clicks. What should I look for to determine the possible cause?

I'm not sure if this is related, but turning the vent controls makes the AC not work, or at least not work well. The air doesn't seem to blow out of whatever is selected.

I bought the car used for my son. It has over 200K miles on it. The previous owner gave me all the repair records. It seemed to have had some AC issues. I couldn't find any mention of the ticking noise.

I thought perhaps there are some sort of vacuum actuators that are stuck and the ticking is them trying to move.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Default Re: ticking sound when starting

If it is a fairly loud clock, it may be the blend actuator door acting up. I had to replace the one on my 06 and 08 (when I had it). It was doing it on my wife's 06, but we found the setting that stopped it. Heat and air (when I get it recharged) work.

From what I have found on YouTube, to say it is a royal PIA to replace is an understatement. It may be worth having someone else repair/replace it for your own mental health.

The one on my Ford Fiesta is easy to fix if you are a contortionist but you don't have to take half the dash apart.

May be blending door motor gear broken.
