Poor gas mileage

My vehicle is getting very poor gas mileage! I have an OBD reader so I did a live read on it and the maf sensor was reading very high so I took it off and cleaned it but now it's reading normal again and it's getting worse mpg I also replaced the map sensor! Anyone else have this issue and what was done to correct it?

Clean your fuel injectors and whole gasoline system as it can be gummed up, etc. causing injectors to spray incorrect mist pattern and using too much fuel.

I have used Chevron Techron Concentrate Plus Whole Fuel System Cleaner as needed (Walmart $4.94/10 oz, etc.) to now use much less fuel at idle and improve acceleration.
Chevron originated the Nitrogen Based Fuel Cleaning Additive that must be used to be effective.

It made sense !

A reading can start looking good after the MAF cleaning (and possibly a new air filter if due or dirty), but still have worsening mpg indicating the MAF was not the cause !!



ex. I recently acquired a '96 gmc sierra k1500 with minor issues, subsequently I uncovered after market add-ons within the air intake hosing, cleaned the MAF sensor with CRC' (as I read that contamination of the unit could cause the negative symptoms showing), and replaced hosing & the compromised manifold adapter to shed the add-ons a previous owner had installed presumably for better mpg, but the engine still 'stutters' when idling at a stop .
