I have a 2000 model Saturn 2.2 liter that I recently acquired from my father in law, I had to put a new wiring harness on it because he put a new motor in it a few years back. My issue is a crank and no start. Every time I turn the key from off to the on position I blow a 10amp fuse (controls ign 1) is what its labeled. I have checked the wiring harness and don't see any visible short or grounds not in place. I'm thinking a short in the starter solenoid but not sure. There is another issue of when that fuse does blow all the lights in the dash start blinking very fast and very dim. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. When the engine is turned over everything sounds fine except for actually starting.

Welcome to SaturnFans! Your vehicle underwent some major work. Are you confident that all of the ground locations, including the multiple wire grounds - if any - are connected cleanly under the hood?

I have two multi grounds and one is connected with another single wire, the other is connected with 3 other single wires. I just replaced my starter hoping for a change with no avail.

does anyone have a 2.2 l series car that can send me photos of all the grounding wires and locations? I found that if I hook two of the grounding wires up it blows the fuse but if they are off it doesn't. Does this mean I have a short in the harness or have my grounds in the wrong place?

I don't know if these wiring diagrams helps but if members cannot help, you might consider subscribing to alldata or Mitchell for online service manual info. There may be more here than anyone can imagine as there are many paths to blow a fuse that doesn't require connecting grounds (as the two drawings show). There may be a short in one of the circuits or component to consider that might require careful troubleshooting beyond the scope of anyone here attempting to diagnose this problem sight unseen.
