I try to remove this EGR and clean it, but I got a problem on it. There is a frame blocked, and I cannot take the frame off. My vehicle is 1992 SL1 Help me please, with picture is better. Thanks |

That frame needs to come off. The EGR won't come off with the frame on. Why can't you take the frame off? It's probably held on somewhere. Take a flashlight and look in the dark areas and follow the frame down. Once you get that frame off and all the nuts/bolts are off it, you may have to tap the EGR out with a small mallet.
BTW, welcome to the forums. -Robert

I search around there for a long long time,
but I still cannot remove the frame. I had touched something like a nut, but it covered with that frame from three ways. I have no idea to find a tool to remove it, because that is in very narrow place. |

Are those studs removable? They have the male torx at the tip like the motor mount studs. If you don't have the tool, put a narrow set of vice grips on the torx spot and see if you can pull the studs out and slide out the ERG. If it were my car, i'd get rid of the ERG. I can't imagine that the smog laws in Taiwan are very strict...

Looking at this again...can those EGRs even be cleaned?? Looks like a the diaphragm type that my V8 Chevy used to have. Nothing to clean, diaphragm either held vacuum or didn't. When it stopped working you plug the vacuum supply and bolt on a block off plate.
