2007 ION-2 Sedan
Default Radio display funky after BCM replacement

I don't know if the two are related but, following replacement of the Body Control Module to fix an alarm issue, I just noticed – after starting the car – the display of the clock and radio text is jumbled. No discernible characters. Turning the radio on appears to clear the issue, but it returns the next time the car is started.

I'm beginning wish I still had my 1970 Dodge Monaco Brougham with the Police Interceptor package.

I see you're in New Jersey. I suspect it's fairly cold there too. I think the radio anomaly is simply from the voltage drop that is occurring while starting the engine.

Thanks, Ruley. This began happening before it got cold here, and I now see it doesn't happen all the time. When I last used the car, Friday (when it was 50 degrees), it was fine. I'll keep an eye on it.

Thanks again, and enjoy the holidays!

My '03 L300 radio and hvac (auto climate control) acts up in freezing temps on occasion. I've found presenting heater to max temp before engine shutdown the day before will at least get me heat the next morning regardless of frozen controls. Once warned up, controls come back. The radio does the same at times. Old electronics, possibly going thru several hundred cold/heat/cold cycles may be affecting circuit boards.
