Saturn stops running

My 2004 Saturn ion sedan, 2.2 of course starts fine. But it the motor will stop running either at idle or on the road. I pull to the side of the road and if I just try to crank it back up it won't restart. IF I remove the key from the ignition and put said key back into the ignition it fires right up. I have to remove the key and reinsert every time or it will not fire back up. All sensors have been replaced, including the coil pack TBS and idle motor. This is an engine I rebuilt myself. Engine runs fine otherwise. Also I did drain the tank and it has fresh gas. I'm puzzled!!!!! Oh no check engine light.
