Good evening, my 07 Ion suddenly developed a rapid squeek, squeek, squeek sound when driving in 1st, 2nd, and maybe 3rd. Hard to tell with 3rd as it goes away with speed. Sound totally goes away when I push in the clutch. Thinking perhaps input shaft bearing? Weird problem, anyone else ever experienced this?

Also, was thinking about just replacing the transmission with a brand new unit that I would install a LSD insert in anyway. Found these zero F23's available for a whopping $500 meant for 08 cobalt supposedly. I assume that these would be identical final drive and be just what I want? Thanks in advance gents, this is the last great automotive forum on the interwebz.

False alarm, thrns out to be a supercharger snout bearing dying on me. Can't wuite explain why disenging the clutch made it go away for a short time but doesn't anymore.

Still wondering if anyone oit there can give me extra confirmation the transmission is a direct swap. Want to buy one and instal a LSD over the winter anyway. Then just need to find a good clutch that can hold some powrr without being super heavy.

Yes, if you can find an LSD trans from another Ion or Cobalt SS, it will be a direct swap, as long as its a 5 spd. 6 speed won't of course.

The GMPP clutch is what most Redline owners use, it's the GM updated clutch good for 300+ whp pretty sure.
