A transaxle, in the automotive field, is a component that combines the functionality of the transmission, the differential and the drive axle into one integrated assembly. Front engine, rear wheel drive vehicles tend to have the transmission up front just after the engine, but sometimes a front engine drives a rear-mounted transaxle. typical automobile transmissions include the ability to select one of several different gear ratios.

There is no service for the transaxle in the 2007 Greenline manual. How does one check the level or change the fluid & filter?

For an S-series with an automatic transmission, there is a red dipstick you can see at the front of the engine. As you look towards the engine, it is to the right of the yellow oil dipstick.

With a warmed up transmission, engine running, put selector in each gears with foot on brake, ending in Park. Pull out dipstick, wipe off, reinsert and pull out to look.

Drain and fill instructions are in the The How To Library

edit: I clicked the link above and found the How To for ATF changes <-- direct link

There's probably a richpin video, too

edit: Welcome to the forums It's very helpful to put your car information either in your post or in your profile. With automatic transmissions, the drain/fill procedure is the same for all S-series. For some other questions, the answer may depend on the year of car, engine type, etc.

"Greenline" indicates one of several later "Saturn" models, but definitely not an S-Series car. Please post your question in the section relevant to your particular model (ION, Vue, etc.).

Ah, I thought "greenline" was some kind of generic automotive maintenance manual.

See, I'm still a Saturn newb

linushollis, you can see why posting your car information would be helpful...
