2007 ION-3 Quad Coupe
1999 SL
Dizzy So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Alas, fellow Ion enthusiasts, I am sad to write this, I am no longer an owner of an Ion that I bought off the lot, and drove it until it died...
She went out with well over 250,000 and the engine would have kept going (I ALWAYS used synthetic oil, and changed coolant system as recommended).
She was of the final year, 2007, built in May of 2016, a rare bird, was a Storm Grey, Ion 3 Quad Coupe, with Sport appearance package, 2.4L engine and speed stick. It was less than 3% of the model year.
What killed her was the tranny; I just didn't have the cash for a complete rebuilt. I had one guy say he could get it running but I'd have no 5th gear. Can't do that...
Many miles were driven, almost all highway, I got several tickets with her, and pissed off a lot of Mustangs over the years (heh-heh-heh!)(I don't know why, but for some reason I had several tangles with Mustangs; trust me, I was an equal opportunity menace with drivers who peed me off, like slow left lane drivers or people more interested with their phones than their driving!)
I'd average about 90 most of her life. One early Saturday morning, on a long, flat road (Krome Ave for those who know, north of the Miccosukee Casino), where I could easily see I was out there all alone - got up to 130, then I chickened out. Smooth as glass!
Alas, I have been injured, some herniated disks, bad diabetes neuropathy that made driving a stick hurt. Medically I advise, lift using your knees, use back supports when your work requires heavy lifting. Diabetes is no joke, more serious than most people will tell you; it pretty much works to destroy your entire body - anything blood flows through can be affected; if you're over 30, see a doctor, it only takes a blood test. Lastly on this, I smoked for 22 years (and not necessarily tobacco!) and I quit 19 years ago. Today I have stage 1 COPD, which means I have chronic bronchitis, which means I always have snot in my lungs. There is no cure, and there's no way to stop it. It's the same disease that killed Leonard Nimoy, among others. Really the only thing I can do are those inhalers you see on TV; I already did the best thing, quit. DON'T SMOKE!!! I got off easy! Imagine if you got lung cancer!...
But hey, it's been fun, the ION I drove wasn't a Redline, but it was plenty quick all the same. It had great response and got me out of several possible crashes because it was well made.
It did have tranny problems all the way through though, and I will also NEVER get a sun roof again!
I've replaced with a Scion xB, which is the second one we've bought. The later models have a lot more room than you think! Especially with Kids!...

Adios amigos!
