On a bench; measure it for resistance with a multimeter - it should read between 700-1200 ohms. This is at ambient room temperature. Now immerse it in boiling water and measure it again. Last, rap it against the table a few times and measure it. Any open reading at any time means failure. The cps should operate in heat, cold, and vibration - the environment it operates in the engine block.

A few found theirs faulty in one of the three modes.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!
