Default Engine block cleaning

My friend bought a used Saturn engine block and it is stripped to the bare block and it needs some cleaning. Can it be done using car wash soap and hot water and using compressed air to dry it?

I doubt you'd get it very clean at all like that. You'll need something a bit more aggressive than soap. I have an intake that I'd like to clean up and was doing a bit of reading on the topic, I found that Eagle 1 mag wheel cleaner is recommended to restore it to like new condition.

Are you just trying to make it pretty, or trying to get the internal oil channels cleaned out (for a rebuild)?

No, not making it pretty, just want the block nice and clean before the rebuild. Trying to get out all the dust and small dirt particles and the oil channels/passages cleaned out.
