Almost lost my saturn today :|

Well, i was on my way home from a family thing today, and im going about 40km/h, and i was looking to stop at a stop sign, instead, i hit mass ice, and nearly hit the guy in front of me at a 90 degree angle, i missed him by and inch, and nicked the curb with my rear tires, no damage done... but thanks to my drift practicing, it came in very very handy...

Lucky for you it seems you know how to drive in snow.

I can relate. Two years ago I was in a blizzard and lost in white out snow
in the hills of the Berkshires when a ended up on a mountainous road with
curves and a cliff. An idiot coming the other way was heading into me head
on-I swerved to avoid him and ended up going down a mountain road
sideways. The road was icy and I was forced to "rock" my SL2 back and forth
to get it back straight or I was going to go over a cliff.

I knew I could kill the tranny but I had to get straight or I would have been dead.

My then 90 minute commute home took 5 hours and I got home.
The next morning the driveway had a red puddle and the tranny was shot.
I pushed the differental pin through the pan I found out later.
Well I put a rebuilt tranny in the car for $1200 and that was 75,000 miles
ago and I'm pretty confident this car will keep going and going.

wow, sounds like your incident was much worse then mine, glad youkept your satty! All i really did was rip the ebrake and throw it the other way, i dont know how i didnt manage to hit the other guy, but i know we were both ok, and my sister was in the pass side, she was so scared... when we got hom, she RAN into the house... poor her... :s

you messed up by pulling the parking brake. Probably could have stopped more safely if you had just pumped the brakes, or atleast would have been able to manuver around him.

i beg to differ... if i didnt pull that e-brake, my car woulda kept sliding sideways, when i hit 90 degree's, i rippped the e-brake to go the other way, locking the rears and letting go of your fronts can and WILL regain most control of your car, i know my car well enough on what to do, and i use my e-brake regularily so it does not seize up when i do use it.

Even if i did write off my satty, i would jsut buy it back... i have too much in audio equip in there, and its toog ood of a car.. however last night, i had the wierdest dream.... my dad bought me a brand new Civic SI in exchange for the saturn.... i aksed him for a redline instead
