Just curious to see if anyone plays the "pro's and con's" games with their cars.
My 1994 SL2 was destroyed by a drunk so it led me to a 1995 SW2 instead. Some pro's and con's I've found in the last 2 months are: Love on the new ride: SW2 has lower miles, seems to be peppier too. Like the hatch a lot. Didn't at 1st, but getting used to it. Love the non-automatic seatbelts! The lumbar is nice and the seats seem to be in better shape too. Miss on my 1994: The alloy wheels, much better than the el cheapos standard ones on my SW2 The center console, and the fact like an idiot I didn't grab it when the tow truck came to take it to it's new home, the boneyard. The fact that the stuff in the trunk was out of sight unlike the SW2 hatch. Cruise control(slowly working on installing in on my SW2) All in all, I went from one that has 155xxx to one that has 91xxx. Both 5spds that seem to shift well. Any thoughts, opinions and experiences from other Saturn owners would be great to read. Thanks! |

They make a shade for the wagon rear. Of course if you use the shade like noone else ever does it screams "I've got something valuable I'm hiding". Hatch glass is very expensive.
![]() 1st saturn we ever owned, a 96 SL, had manual steering. Never had that since. Miss it. |

1998 SC2
Here’s the biggest problem with the entire car: The sloped headlight “glass” refracts light up into the air. This irritates other drivers, and especially long-haul ![]() I sometimes feel like cutting flat sections out of a plastic garbage can and shutting them in the hood so they block the light from lighting up the overpass signs. It’s like, “Hey! I’m sitting waaayy down here, and the light is diffusing waaayyy up there!” The headlights are adjusted properly (if not just a little low). I’m referring to refracted & d i f f u s s e d light. I had a road motorcycle like that. A 1982 Hondo “Vision” The faring had a sloped aerodynamic plastic shield over the headlight that was fine for daytime running light. However, at night I could see the trees as well as the road. I was more concerned with potholes than telephone wires. |

Things I like about the current vehicle (96 SL1 5-speed):
- The car is loaded (Air conditioning, cruise, PW,PL,PM) - Rear drum brakes (in salty Nova Scotia rear discs are a maintenance nightmare) - Spoiler makes the 4-door look a bit sportier - No electric mice seat belts - Price (I paid $400 for it) Things I miss about the old one ('94 SC2 5-speed) - Twin cam power Vs the SOHC in the SL1 - 15" Alloy wheels Vs the 14" steelies on my current car - Sporty looks (although the colour, plum, sucked) - ABS (was nice to have, even though it meant having the rear dics) The only reason I ever got rid of the coupe was that the Safety Inspection Gods were calling for its sacrifice. It needed two rear calipers, both rear rotors, rear pads, a cradle, and a front ball joint - it would've been more work and money to fix than it was worth. I sold it to a guy for parts five years ago. |

my 1992 SC had a factory 4-2-1 header, pop-up headlights and no air bags. it was loud compared to my 2002 SC2. the 92 SC was lighter than the 02 SC2 and had a shorter wheelbase so it would rotate quicker.
