Ha!

how much boost could you pump out with a leaf blower? 205MPH is pretty hardcore.

I would not work. The point of a super/turbo charger is to compress air and to fit more air within the cylinder. That only blows the air and has no way of compressing the air. Also a motor sucks in much more air than those can blow. Simple it will not work, cause it has no way of compressing the air.

The electric superchargers off Ebay are basically that. If anything it restricts air flow and kills performance. Now there is one supercharger that is electric that works but if I recall its like 700 dollars, but it only works because it can generate pressure, IE boost.

A leaf blower does compress air. That's what makes the air go 250mph or whatever. It just can't build up 10psi. A leaf blower will add HP to the motor it's just not well controlled.

Evidently the metaphor-impaired Cletus took "blower" a WEE bit too literally....

Hmm, the AC motor has to run on something. Either a BIG-effin' inverter, pulling major current (read: major drag) from the alternator, or a UPS with a heavy battery, or something. Whatever it is, the added weight / load probably more than offsets the fractional horsepower gain of this, er, device.

Even if a leaf blower compresses the air, the engine 'breaths' in way more air then the leaf blower can push, also once the vacuum is equalized its not going to want anymore, thats the point of boost. It pushes air in, a leaf blower won't have the mustard to compress the intake charge.

i think it would. granted i dont think it would create a lot of boost but i dont think the motor sucks in the air faster than 205 MPH.

A casual check of leaf blow specs leads me to believe that the output should provide a bit of boost up to around 6000 RPM. Even if it just offsets the vacuum it's still helping. The numbers I saw were around 350 CFM for a gas powered one which is reasonable for a 1.9L motor. (A twin engine Saturn? 1.925L?)

Disclaimer - I don't recommend doing this but it's not like a turbonator or something with no chance of working.
