Junk Yard, and get the shift tower also. Do not buy aftermarket, they do not work.

+1, used OEM is better than new aftermarket when it comes to saturn s-series shifter cables.

+2....

You can use any year shifter cables. The only thing that changed in regards to shifter cables is the grommet that holds them into the firewall. After the 92 Model year it switched over to a different design.

You can use any model as well. My cables + shifter, in my SC, are from a SW.

Before you go off and buy shifter cables, what's wrong with your old ones? If it's the bushing under the shifter, there are a lot of other solutions for that.

The bushing at the shift tower for the cable on the right (passenger) side? That can be replaced for about $20.00

Ebay. They even sell metal ones instead of the plastic ones.

Search Shifter Bushing.

Here is the link. I have done business with this seller and he provides the after sale support and ships very quickly. I have the SS bushing installed and I found it also tightened up the shifting nicely. There are other sellers but I have no experience with them. This seller is also a member here.

So it's the bushing again. Anyone know about how much use people get out of it before it fails?

"it" being the original bushing? I have 160k miles on my car, at least 10k of those have been with me driving, and shifting somewhat hard much of the time. AFAIK, original cables. They hold up well, but do fail sometimes.

Evidently April is shift cable bushing month here on SF, along with mystery no-start month. Be sure to stop by in May, when we'll be having specials on diff pin failures and CHIME module freak-outs. Or some other two things, of which we'll get way more threads than usual. (I swear, these things go in waves, in some pattern knowable only to the gods...)

Yeah, hopefully my car is now up to specs. It runs like brand new (knock on wood), with the exception of my injector misfire. It's not that bad, and I have a choice of four to replace it with if I start seeing the misfire too often. I've babied this car for the last year and a half, bringing it back up to code since I bought it.

I'm thinking that I should just buy a bushing to keep in the car if it ever breaks. I've had 3 of these cars now and never broke a shifter bushing. Heck, I've never replaced a clutch on a car that I put most of the miles on. This last one was obviously driven hard and abused.
