Good luck on finding one. We have 3 SC2s.. a red stripped model, with sunroof and manual, a white stripper with roof and auto, and a loaded orange auto show car. We have no more SL2s or SL1s barring our ex service rentals.. being sold on the new lot.

Default remaining SC's

When I bought my ION3 the sales staff told me they have some great deals on remaining S series cars including SC. Call Saturn of North Olmsted, Ohio. Ask for Mike Baran. That was a week ago so maybe they have some left?

EvilSL2....

Yes, there are deals out there. Just checked with my husband and he told me it's up to each dealership as to what kind of deal they'll offer...it's not standard nationwide.

On his dealership lot, there are 8 2002 SC2's left. They're taking $1K off with 0% financing OR $3K with regular bank financing (6-7%)...with loan approval, of course.

Bottom line is that the dealers want to move out the 2002's. If you're interested and find one you like, it can't hurt to go in and see what you can negotiate. If you don't like the deal, you can always walk away. I'll tell you that they're not going to give the cars away, but yes, there is most likely a deal of some type to be had.

Saturn isn't going to give you anything for the trade-in. The retailer makes that decision and it will most likely be based on the condition of your car and whether they feel they can re-sell it themselves from their lot or have to move it at an auto auction. Local market conditions can and will vary from place to place.

In my experience, you'll get a better trade in at a non-Saturn store. Saturn dealers know the weak points and check all of them. Retailers of other marques aren't familiar enough to know some of the little details. example: my ex-wife's 96SL2 was $5000 upside down in payments, Saturn of Alhambra noticed the air-dam was cracked (probably from my wife running into a parking tire-barrier, just tall enough to hit it) and deducted the small fortune a new part would cost. The Toyota dealer she eventually traded it in (for a 4Runner, yech) gave maximum value for the car and paid off the loan. Did she actually get screwed by Toyota? YES, but it didn't appear as tho she did at the time. Saturn wanted $5K down and $747/mo. for a VUE, The Toy dealer wanted $3K and $400/mo. for the similarly priced 4Runner. Those are lease prices btw.

I think they were gypping me on the interest rate. The buy rate was even worse, more like $840/mo , that would have gotten me a $50,000 VUE!!!
Now that I'm actually IN the car business I understand the payment stuff. They were actually trying to bilk me on buy-rate points (back end) AND MSRP (front end). If I choose another saturn, I'll be much more prepared

My interest rate is also high, im trying to get my credit fixed so i could get a lown at my bank and pay off the car and just pay back the lown at a conciderbly smaller interest rate....

But i woulnt mind trading mine in and getting a s-10, I like my saturn and i love this board.. even if i get ride of my sl2 ill still probably be posting here every day...

Saturn of Wilmington (North Carolina that is) had 3 SC's, 2 SC1's and one SC2. And one fully loaded SL2. The dealer didn't seem to have any killer deals on the SC's, but the SL had I think a good chunk taken off the price.

My dealer just got an insane amount of Ion's and L200's. I guess they think they're going sell a bunch!

Try to get into a credit union. Usually you can get lower than prime rates for banking there. Major factors on your credit include:
30,60,90 days late on any bills on the report
reposessions
chargeoffs
collections
liens
bankruptcy
and credit cards near the limit, even if they aren't paid late
note: ANY AUTO LOAN GONE BAD IS TAKEN SERIOUSLY

Best of luck!

My local Saturn retailer had an ad in the paper recently for a new 2002 SL1 for like $9995, "Where can you get a NEW car for under $10K?". (Well, Hyundai, actually.)

They also had a used, low mileage SW2 in the showroom which looked brand new. I think the price of that car was also under $10K.

Interesting times to be a Saturn retailer.

Now if gas goes up above $2/gallon (US) this Summer, things could get more interesting....
