rfisher, if you can remove the actuator for bench assessment, you might be able to disassemble it to reveal the inner workings and if they're repairable. At the least, I'm curious and I think I have one actuator on its last legs, the recirc actuator. I haven't read my manual yet to see if its accessible for removal yet. If I do remove it, I would probably tear it apart and post snapshots and determine if a gear broke, stripped, motor died or if any circuitry failed. I haven't checked if these actuators are the same ones used in recirc, mode and temperature.

Default Re: the old mode actuator trick in the hvac .the war continues

hi ibraner and fdryer- looked at the additional posting for the actuator. also saw the new gear posted too. plan to take out the original gearbox and check the gear . that may solve the problem. a pileup of surprise brushfires and clusterf@!#ks have savaged my available time for this job. will have to delay it for a while . ac does work well out the front vents if i leave it alone. but will need defrost function in the fall. will keep in touch. btw how many pins in the male connector boss on the actuator identify the one for the L 100. on the many actuators for gm cars they range from 2 to 6 . some are set up in 2-3 order or 3-2 order. appreciate your ongoing help. bob f
