Default Window tinting

I'm getting my windows tinted in my SC2 tomorrow and I was wondering how dark should I go. I want an even tint on all the windows, including the door windows.

I like tint jobs that are are not super dark. I like them dark enough that at a glance you can't make out what is inside the car. But if you are really looking you can tell. The amount of tint that requires is dependent upon you interior and such.

Anouther reason I do this is because I have poor night vision and dark tint sucks for me.

Keep in mind different makes of films produce different effects even if they are the same tint level. Remember stick with the best film they have, High quality lower tint level film is normally better at cutting out heat and light then cheap film rated 5% higher.

Default tinting

keep in mind that there could be laws that regulate how dark the tinting can be. where i am, you're only allowed to go 35% on the drive and passanger side. (the rest can be whatever you want). any darker, and you could get fined if a cop see's it.

you should look into it.

How much would a 35% tint cost on a wagon? This is something I may look into someday, just to keep people from staring into my car, and possibly stealing something.

every place charges differentely, so you'll just have to phone around to get some quotes.

just make sure wherever you go uses good quality tint (3M) that is guaranteed for life against fading (turning that ugly purple) or bubbling.

I just got my SC1 tinted w/ a lip or whatever on the windshield...cost 170. I got as dark as I could legally, and its kinda nice cuz I dont have to switch the rear view mirror at night, and ppl cant just look over and see in my car anymore.

I was thinking about going with just 50% all the way around, I don't know the name brand of tint this place uses, but it was recommened to me by a lot of people. I live in IL and it's Illegal to have any tint on the driver/passenger windows, but if it's not too dark the police don't usually bother you.

Always go darker than you think. I tinted windows for 1.5 years and no one ever came back and said it was too dark(unless they were 80 years old). Most said, uh, its too light. My SC2 has 3m limo on the back 3 windows and 20%(lets in 20% light) dark smoke on the front roll-ups(illegal in california). It looks great and I am always receiving compliments on it.

I just roll down the window to parallel park of if I see cops. Sometimes its hard to see out the sides at night as well, but it is worth it in my opinon.

The SC2 for all 5 windows should be about 220-250, add another 25-45 for the sun strip across the windshield.

wow, i can't believe what some of you guys have to pay for tint. here where i live in florida, i've checked around numerous tinting places. some better then others. the most expensive place i found for me to tint my 2002 L was about 130 bucks. i wonder why so much cheaper here?

im getting 5 % on back and 20 % on sides. that is the legal limit where i live. but i might sneak in a 2nd layer of 20 *evil chuckle*. but i dont know . the only thing that might stop me from tinting my windows it that little window behind the drivers seat on my sc2 that is blacked out from factory. if i could find something that would match that exactly i would tint my ride in a heartbeat

Default Here it is

35% all the way around, for some reason the 3rd door window looks kinda light in that pic, I think the sun was reflecting off it...

Here in Washington I believe the limit is 35 also, but if you can get the optometrist to write a note saying that you require dark tinting due to your eye sensitivity to light then you can get as dark as you want too. Maybe other states have this same loophole.

I can't remember the difference in tint level between my L and S. I've been pulled over twice on my SC2. However, the city I live in, cops are like that because they have nothing else to do. Before I moved here, never stopped. I've never been pulled over in the L however. Basically the bright yellow car like that pulls attention to them of course and that's why I get it.

Tenchi,

do you have both the SC2 and L? Or just the L at this time?

I have 35% on my VUE. The rears are 20% factory. 50% is legal in Ohio, but they won't mess with you for 35%.
