1994 SL2
Default Need an automatic transmission part - 1994 SL2

Transmission was rebuilt in 2005 (lost reverse) and has been working great ever since. About a year ago, it started leaking, not bad but it kept getting worse. I have a friend who has worked in transmission shops for over 40 years who is working on it. He's changing all of the gaskets as they were all bad.

While he was working on it, the second reverse drive gear bearing (which has a plastic cage on it) fell apart and I need a new or replacement one. He said his main source for parts like this in New Jersey said "it happens all the time" with these Saturn automatic transmissions and unfortunately, he cannot get the part any more. My friend was going to try a GM dealer however I'm not holding out much hope that a GM dealer will be able to help us.

Does anyone know or have any idea how I can obtain this part? Again, it's called the "second reverse drive gear bearing"

Any help would me most appreciated!

I found a couple options, not sure which you need.
https://www.gmpartsgiant.com/parts/g...-21002176.html
https://www.gmpartsgiant.com/parts/g...-21003613.html

...
The proper way to fix a S-Series automatic is to replace it with a 5spd O:)

Wow, thanks! That site is familiar to me, I had forgotten about it over the years...

I'll have to ask my transmission guy to give me a GM part number. Hopefully, it's the first one you listed because gmpartsgiant says the 2nd and 3rd are no longer available.

Thanks again Fetchitfido

I think the same thing when buying new old stock Saturn parts. There’s been some cases where I can only find something on one site and I wanted to buy 2 of them but could only get 1 due to stock.
