Rear Hatch release

Been lurking here a while just thought I'd post an issue and see if anyone else has suffered this.

2008 3.5l Vue XE AWD

Often the rear latch button does not release. In order to open it we have to lock the Vue and push the double unlock again. It takes two or three cycles of this sometimes. At first I thought it was just user error, then last week I pulled into my driveway turned off the key and heard a click. I checked the back and the latch released to the first catch ( Warning lit on dash but you can see a small gap but won't upon all the way without unlocking )

Yesterday it released while driving at 35 MPH. Still didn't open but set off warning and started to rattle. I had to pull over unlock it and close it again.
At the dealer everything worked perfectly of course but I made them keep it to keep checking since I see it as a safety issue.

Anyone else see this?

I've never experienced this...I checked with my friend who also has a 08 Vue and she hasn't either. Hope they figure out what the problem is. If they return it to you and state that they found no problem try taking a picture of the warning light and the gap you notice when this occurs (if you have a camera phone or a digital camera on you at the time of course). It was a method I used when I had problems with my Ion that the dealer kept saying they couldn't replicate....

Good idea. I think when it happens again I'll call for an Onstar Diag as well.

And yes they can't find a thing.
