Default Tire size

I need new tires for my '97 SC1 and it seems that there aren't too many options for the stock size of 175-70-14. According to the tire size calculator the speedo would only be off .7% if I went with the 185-65-14 size. I would like to get the Dunlop SP Sport A2. Does that sound ok? I don't really know anything about changing to a different size so is it going to affect anything else?

You could also go with 205/60-14, if it will fit. A lot of people here have used 205s, but I'm not sure if that's with stock wheels, and I'm not sure if only the 2-series cars have the tight clearance due to the different suspension.

The % error they're talking about is how the different tires will affect the speedometer and odometer (overall diameter). Going with tires wider and lower than the 175/70s will make the car handle better, but sacrifice a little gas mileage, but not much considering how much better the car will handle in corners and in the rain.

The current SOHC cars have been using the 185/65 R14 tires since the 2000 model year. I don't think you would have any problems switching to this size.

Ok thanks for the info. I'll probably go with 185 then. I don't have to change the stock wheels or anything do I? Or the hub cap?
