S series are getting harder and harder to find

There's a lot of pretty beat up S-Series out there, but even those are in better condition than one that have been long crushed.

I hear ya, but I asked the junk yard counter guy about why they had so many but no Saturn junkers in their yard, and he said they bought the ECMs (via a part exchange) from a big yard near a big city up north of them. I should have mentioned earlier I am talking about a junk yard in Fairfield, Iowa.

Anyway, I borrowed several of them and attempted to find one that would both run my SL1 and give me cruise control. I'm sure you know that didn't work out at all. Must have tried 5 of them, did no harm to the car, just didn't work. The yard was very close to where I was staying at the time. Plus I do love rummaging through junk yards.

One thing I liked about finding all those ECMs sitting loose on a shelf was that each one had the original car's VIN# marked on their cases. That was handy because I could just look it up online and check features.

I think on the 3rd gen cars, Saturn moved cruise functions from the Power Control Module (PCM) to the Body Control Module (BCM).

GEN2 only had a PCM. GEN3 has both a PCM and BCM and the cruise control lives in the BCM.

So...I was bored and decided to gather a list of every 1st gen currently for sale on Craigslist. Not that many but that probably has to do with the fact that Craigslist now charges a fee to list a car for sale. I see S-Series pop up way more regularly on Facebook Marketplace nowadays.
