Dizzy Whaat is the correct thermostat temp of a 05 Vue 3.5 V-6

Want to change thermostat in 05 Vue 3.5 V-6. Auto part retailers have temperature ranges of 167,170, 172, 180 and 195. What did it use from the factory?

The Stant brand thermostat is set for 167 degrees F and is listed as the OE temperature setting for the part. I used to sell their parts as a former aftermarket auto parts counterman. Stant parts they were well known for their accuracy in providing the correct factory thermostat temperatures. If you were to call a dealer it's likely that they couldn't give you an answer as to what the thermostat's temperature is. However, when you look at the bottom of a thermostat there is usually a number stamped into it which is the temperature of that part.

Nevertheless, if you're still feeling uncertain then I would say that what seems clear is that no thermostat should be purchased with a temperature greater than 172 degrees F.

Agree. Buy Stant and don't worry about the rating.

Here's a reprint of t-stat diagnosing in a pdf. The reference to using a scantool is not the generic reader sold everywhere. In GM service manuals, scantool means GMs Tech II. The partial mechanical specs were copied from service manual, for operating specs of Vue t-stat in your Vue.

Thanks for the responses. I will check the rating of the current(original) thermostat in place and replace with a thermostat with the same rating.
