2002 L-Series 3.0L Sedan
Default vapor or fuel

I'm super confused on some of these threads. I noticed my fuel lines are rusty under back passenger side. The bigger fatter one isn't near as bad as the smaller slimmer one. So what is the smaller line called? And which line is the vapor line? I've read some that said it's the plastic black one. and others said its the rubber hosed one. I have a 2002 l 300. Any help is great. Please be detailed. I don't want to go cutting stuff off if it's not the right one

Go to rockauto and review parts images for your year and model. Scroll down to Fuel & Air and select Fuel Line/Hose, examine the fuel feed and fuel return lines - both have different outside diameters and are hard nylon. My guess - these lines are on top of the tank. After reviewing these plastic lines, scroll down and select Fuel Tank Filler Neck and examine images. These two steel lines are, I believe, your problems.

The unit that fryer shows in his diagram is the whole unit that rusts up North. I know from previous post, you are dealing with several issues on your car, so I guess money is tight BUT do yourself a favor and just buy and get hold of a complete replacement unit. Don't start cutting lines up, bodging, etc. it will come back to bite you in the end. Replace and be done with it.
