I finally got around to replacing the ECTS connector following Richpin's YouTube tutorial. I originally tried to use a female bullet connector cleaner and some spray to clean out the the original connector, but there was a lot of green corrosion going on (courtesy of the old resin-tipped ECTS).

Despite the successful soldering and heat-shrinking, the temp gauge still sits just a bit over 1/4 when warmed up. I think my mistake may have been either not cutting off enough of the old wire, or using the ECTS from a 2001 SL2 instead of the IAT sensor. Now that I've done it, I cab always give it another shot at a later date.

All S-Series cars (1991-2002) use the same ECTS. You can use a multimeter with 1/4-watt resistors as connector probes to ensure there is a 5 V drop across the connector when the key is on.

Your gauge is the post-1995 design, so "just a bit over 1/4" sounds about right, though it may be worth considering the thermostat if it has not been replaced recently.

Yesterday, I installed a fixed orifice PCV valve. Then, after trying to figure out exactly what a fixed 0.10 dia orifice does compared to the original check valve, I took it back off. It seems like a 0.01 dia hole would not provide for enough flow and too much crankcase pressure.
Anyway, the original idea was to install it on the (oil using) SL1
and
Backed off the throttle stop screw. The car was bouncing to 2000 rpm at cold start.
and
Today, added air. Car rolls better. My tire gauge was reading about 3 psi high and, with the cooler weather, the tires looked flat.

Last week I replaced the front flex pipe on the exhaust and replaced the windshield.

The flex pipe was last replaced 4 years ago and it developed a small hole. They replaced the whole pipe this time from manifold to catcon.

The windshield was quite pitted as it could very well be the original and the week before developed a stress crack on the drivers side edge. Not sure what that is all about. It's nice to have a clear windshield!

did my radiator this weekend, was leaking from the seam, plastic/alum. followed richpins video, mostly, THANK YOU!!!

had issues with 2 bolts, the lower tranny cooler line and putting back the bolt holding the condensor on the drivers side.

well stripped the line and now im replacing upper and lower lines. after all they are original. they are ordered.

amazon seems to be cheapest for all this.
