Keyless Entry?

What was the First Year saturn that came with remote keyless entry? i am getting a 94 SC2, and i dont think it has it, but i wasnt sure becuase it does have all the factory options.

1996 came factory. The 1994 SC2 might still have the central locking though - where when you unlock the driver's door with the key the passenger's door unlocks too.

Most after market alarms will give you this option. My 95 SL2 doesn't even have power locks, but I set it up to do remote lock/unlock while arming. Installed the power door lock actuators and wired them into the alarm.

Didn't the 1992 & 1993's have a "passive" thing? It had the alarm and RKE, but I think it was a dealer accessory. My 1992 & 1993 owner manuals have this. So I think you could have had RKE in 1992 & 1993 but I've never seen a Saturn with this and I think it's pretty rare.

My 91 Bonneville has it, i really really hope the saturn does. i just dont like aftermarket remotes...

to further this thread....can any G1 S-Series get a factory keyless entry system installed at the dealer?

I remember turning my key in the driver's door luck a different way the one day, and I heard the whole car unlock. I thought to myself "WTF", and then forgot about the whole thing!!

Don't think G1's had the factory option.

If you turn the key twice on the drivers door, all doors unlock in my 95.

If you count "factory" as what the 1992 & 1993's had, that would be a factory remote keyless entry. If anyone has their accessory pamphlet in their owner's manual (92 &93) you can see a picture. It looks pretty old school for a remote keyless entry, but does have two buttons with the Saturn emblem on the front.

When I go home again i'll scan the picture (this weekend). Until then, if you can get your hands on a 1992 or 1993 Saturn owner's manual (the accessories pamplet) it has it in there, but I will def get the picture this weekend when I go home!

My 94 SL-2 that I used to have had the option that when you unlock the drivers door with the key, if you turn it back and then turn it to unlock again, all the doors unlocked.

I DO miss that on my pretty much basic 2000 SL-1.

I didn't have any keyless stuff in the 94. Nothing was electric in it either except the door locks.

Miss that car.

This feature was added to Saturns with power door locks in the 1994 model year. I think this and the conversion from R-12 to R-134a in the AC system were the only changes for the 1994 model year. Maybe a color change too. Wasn't 1994 the year the Saturn coupes came with light blue? (I need to check my 1994 brochure!)

I think for the 1996 model year Saturns with power door locks were given remote keyless entry too, so probably the "second twist of the door key to unlock the other doors" feature went away. Well, perhaps it is better to say that the feature got replaced with a second "click" on the remote keyless tranmitter button!

The retailer installed accessory catalog has it twice. Each of the following small images are actually hyperlinks to full size versions of the same images.





By the way most of the things in this catalog could have been ordered from the Spring Hill factory when the car was built. I guess it gave people with SL cars a chance to get things such as right side exterior mirrors, a better radio, air conditioning, etc.

I have a 93, and it's got the unlock-one-unlock-all feature. When I unlock the driver's door, it unlocks the passenger door also. I never use this feature cause I had an aftermarket alarm system with keyless entry installed.

Yes. With my 1993 SL2 with power door locks when I unlock the door on the driver's side, all four doors unlock at once. And when I lock the door on the driver's side, all four doors lock at once. I cannot unlock just the driver's door using my key - it always does all four doors.

On the passenger side of my 1993 SL2, using the key only unlocks that one door. I can't remember what happens if I try to lock it using the key in the passenger door because I don't think I've ever tried! (Usually I press the lock button on the inside front door (either side) before closing the door to lock all the doors.)

I like the common remote keyless entry transmitters (a.k.a. "FOBs") that Saturn and most GM vehicles use today - nice rounded corners which don't do funny things to our pockets and which are more pleasant to hold.
