remote control windows doors lock themselves

Is it normal that the remote control of Saturn Astra XR 2008 allows to lower(to go down) windows but is not able of going back up (raising) them?

Is it normal that my car doors lock themselves automatically on my Saturn Astra XR 2008? How may I change the parameters on this option?

Yes. Most people's remotes also have a very short range, so if the windows stop part way down, this is why.

If you unlock the doors with the remote, but don't open a door, they will lock after 2 minutes. I guess it's to keep from accidentally hitting the unlock button while the keys are in your pocket.

Or are you talking about when you drive away? If so, the doors also lock on the manual after you reach about 5-10mph. IDK whether they lock on an auto when you shift to drive or at a certain speed.

The remote up on the windows is disabled for the NA market because the pinch protection in the windows doesn't meet US standards. It cannot be turned on. In Europe the remote does control window up.

That is lame...how nice it would be to roll your windows up from the comfort of your home when its raining outside lol

I agree, it is lame. For the same reason, we also lose the express-up feature on all the window buttons in the car, and if you have the sunroof like me, we also lose the express close for the roof and sunshade.

This is strange because the windows seem very sensitive. When I put the Saturn wind deflectors on, it took a lot of fussing because the window would just touch the deflector and go back down. I figured it wasn't worth the effort and returned the deflectors after the shop techs couldn't get it right either.

I have the same deflectors and i just deal with it honestly. I saw that Auto Ventshade's in-channel style deflectors used thin pieces of moulding (double sticky) tape that i think im gonna try atleast on my driver side which comes out alot anyway.

I agree it is lame as well. My sister has a Honda Accord and she told me she has the capablility of rolling the windows down then as she gets in the car and starts it they roll up automatically. It would be a nice feature to have on the Astra. Someone mentioned it is for the pinch protection, I think it is because someone was too lazy to install the feature.

It is very lame that we can't roll the windows up with the remote. But at least we know our government cares about us....if they left it on we would probably chop our heads off in our windows!
