Default Engine swap - 99 SC2 to 2000DOHC engine - Question

I need to replace an engine in a 99 SC2.
Unfortunately I can't find the right engine.

Last time I had a 99 SC2 in my shop I searched for 2 weeks!

I do not want to go through that again and I wonder if I can put a 2000 DOHC engine in???

Please advise...

On 99 I have 4 sensors in between the engine block and firewall.
Will I be able to conect all the plugs there if I put the 2000 motor in?

Also will the 99 intake and the 99 exhaust match the head of 2000?

I have like 10 different DOHC engines on a local yard, mostly 2000 and up - but NONE from 99! Is there anything specific I should look at?

I know I need to replace the intake, because these are totaly different.
But what about the temperature sensor and the rest of these sensors down there on the block? Is the timing cover the same?

Help!

If theyre both DOHC it should work...i think the 99/00 engines are the same.

Thank you for your response, however I need to be sure.

I made too many mistakes this year and some of these mistakes are still here in my yard!

Problem is they won't take the engine out to show me until I pay for it.
Most of these cars are wrecked and I just can't see what plugs and sensors are there!

99 has the aluminum intake, the 2000 has the plastic intake

The block will be the same. If the sensors/connectors are different swap the sensors. The heads will be different. The intake has fewer hold down studs. Also the head is narrower. They revised the valve train by changing the lifters.

Allow me to restate that:

The EARLY 99' and older DOHC engines had aluminum intake MANIFOLDS

The late 99'~02's DOHC engines had plastic intake MANIFOLDS

Does it mean I won't be able to swap the manifold? Right?

If the head is different then I won't be able to attach the aluminium manifold to 2000 head!

I hate that! What a bunch of trouble.

Why did they do that?
No respect to mechanics at all.

What about the exhaust manifold mount to exhaust?
Will this match??

Is the manifold the same or different?

The exhaust manifold I am not sure of. The last time I had to try a retro fit I went as far as the intake and stopped there. My figuring was if you can't get the intake on then why go any further?
