I'm a bit confused with the variety of names used for the engine mounts. I know that my '92 SC has three mounts, and the only one I think I've figured out is the Torque Axis Mount (TAM), also referred to as Top Engine Mount, or just Top Mount. Do I have that right?
Anyway, my mechanic found that the dog bone mount is bad, and I plan to buy it from a Saturn store. He told me to just ask for a "dog bone" mount. I can't find anything called "dog bone mount" on SaturnParts.com... ![]() So my question is: What is the actual name of this mount? I just want to make sure I buy the right part. A part number would also be helpful. ![]() TIA.

Look for Torque Strut Mount. I found it at rockauto.com as this
![]() And TAM (torque axis mount) has 4 components (or in your case 3 components). The top engine mount, the lower engine mount aka dogbone mount aka lower toque strut mount, and the transmission mounts (another dogbone for the top of the transmission and a square looking mount for the bottom of the tranny). Hope that helps ![]()

So TAM (Torque Axis Mount) doesn't equal Top Engine Mount...? From your reply I gather that TAM means the group of 3 mounts (in my '92 SC)?
And "dog bone" mount = Lower Torque Strut Mount = Torque Strut Mount = Lower Engine Mount ? But you say that there's another "dogbone" mount for the top of the transmission... How do we know which "dogbone" mount we're talking about? ![]()

There are 3 different mounts. But there are 4 mounts total, transmission mount, engine top mount, lower engine dog bone or strut, upper transmission dog bone or strut. Both struts are identical.

In reviewing my service records, a "lower transaxle mount" was replaced four years ago.
Which one is that?

>a "lower transaxle mount"
On the passenger/engine side , the dogbone/strut is the lower mounting. On the driver/transmission side , the dogbone/strut is the upper mount. The lower transmission mount is a conventional {neither torque nor strut} mounting (not dogbone/strut). |

![]() It does not refer to any Torque strut mount dogbone mount, nor does it refer to the Top Engine Mount, so it must be this guy that Richpin shows us how to replace ![]() http://youtube.com/watch?v=5x1VMuWG5yw Video by richpin ![]()

Okay. I watched richpin's video.
It's not a top engine mount, and it's not a dogbone mount. So it has to be a lower transmission mount. So.... "Lower Transaxle Mount" = "Lower Transmission Mount" Right?

Yay!
Thank you, rc, for helping me understand better. ![]() So what my mechanic was talking about when he said "dog bone mount" and sort of pointed to the passenger side of the car, is the "Engine Torque Strut Mount" aka "Lower Engine Mount" This guy, right?: http://www.saturnfans.com/photos/data/500/IMG_6754.JPG http://www.saturnfans.com/photos/data/500/IMG_6760.JPG (This is not my car - I just borrowed the photo from someone else's post) Part # 21013105 ---> $69 from my Saturn retailer.

actually, it has 4. 2 dogbones (one lower on the passenger side, one upper over the gearbox under the battery), a TAM and the lower gearbox mount. not too many people talk about the last one because it doesn't seem to fail as often as the others...
