Default 3800 series 2 swap

Me and a buddy are tossing up the idea of stuffing GM's 3.8L v6 into his S-series, to get a platform for racing/upgrading going. He's got the inline 4 in it currently, and I believe it's a 96. It's the 91-2001 model I think, from what I saw on here. Was just wondering if it was compatible, since someone put an LS4 in an L series. If it is, what should we expect to buy, do or remove?

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

Good luck! I have no idea how to answer your questions but I think not a lot is compatible.

Stuffing the 3800 Series-II will require some fabrication work and the matching transmission. Use a 1997 Grand Prix GTP tramnsmission, as that was a lone year of the 4T65E Heavy Duty 4-speed automatic.

You will need to cross-reference the wiring diagrams, as the harness from the donor engine/transmission will need to be spliced into the stock Saturn wiring, and you will need to use the PCM from the Grand Prix engine/transmission.

also, plan on measuring the lifespan of your inner, left side tie rod with a stopwatch, as the exhaust manifold will be very close to the rack n pinion.

It can be done.
