Short Throw Shifter
Since I have seen a earlier post of someone modifying a Cobalt SS shifter assembly to fit the Vue. I took took his comment into consideration about the Cavalier short throw shifter possibly being able to fit the Vue without modifications. I wanted a different shifter myself so I decided to take a stab at it.
I did some research on the shape of the shifters between the Vue and the Cavalier and they are almost identical. I bought the shifter myself and tried to make it work. It went in with almost ZERO modification. All I had to do was trim the slot of the back of the shifter assembly larger towards the bottom (as the shift to third would cause the cable end to hit and rub the housing). All I had to do was cut the rubber handle off the shifter to be able to remove the boot and the collar that holds the shifter in. Surprisingly, the handle is indeed molded onto the shifter! Additionally I had the transplant the original shifter bushing from the Vue that connects to the black cable onto the Cavalier shifter as the one provided is too big. Other than those few things, it is a direct bolt it.
If you have nay questions or opinions, let me know and I'll be happy to assist.
