Default Installing Sirius (SIR-GM1 tuner) in Relay

Has anyone installed the Sirius SIR-GM1 tuner in a relay? Any tips? All I have for instructions is that the tuner goes in the factory XM location which is in the left dash above the steering column. Does anyone know how I can get to this location for the installation?

Thanks in advance, Bill

  1. Remove the left instrument panel (I/P) insulator.
  2. Remove the receiver bracket nuts.
  3. Remove the receiver from the bracket.
  4. Disengage the electrical connector and the antenna connectors from the XM radio receiver.
  5. Remove the XM digital radio receiver from the vehicle.

Number 8 in the diagram below.

I've just found that getting the SIR-GM1 Sirius might make my life a million times easier but I don't really understand this second post at all.

Does this module just plug into the back of the radio, run an antenna from there and voila? Would the stock satellite antenna in an Aura be able to connect?

Default Re: Installing Sirius (SIR-GM1 tuner) in Relay

Can anyone tell me how to unstick the multi disc CD hanger in a Relay2? I hate having to listen to commercial radio and don't really want to take my iPod with me. In my SL2, I don't have the commercial radio problem because I have a stereo head unit that has Sirius Satellite and I couldn't be happier!
