Default Rear drum backing plate swap (what years fit)

Need to replace the drum backing plates on 1995 sc1. Anyone know what years will fit?

Thanks,
Warren

Any S-Series from 93-02 will work. IIRC, 91-92 Did't Have the option for rear discs.

EDIT: Totally miss read your post, thought you where converting to discs and needed the dust shield. Any year should work, 91-02

Maybe consider replacing the entire rear suspension with one from a wrecking yard which happens to have Way Less rust... might save maintenance time in future.

I have dutifully renewed backing plates on other vehicles... but maybe another option.

Thanks for the info, anyone know if that is in the swap guide? Or is there a way to search JUST the swap guide thread?

Took the plates off the spare (collision rearranged) 1996 sc1, they were better but still 3-5 out of 10 and blasted and will repopulate the missing metal por 15 for now (before/after pix to follow) if anyone's interested

I know of no way to search one thread. Of course we are interested - this sort of thing is why we are here! Backing plates on my '98 are trash.

IIRC the backing plates are sandwiched between the bolt-on rear wheel bearing and the knuckle...as long as the undersized 10mm hex-head bolts (heads should be at least 12mm for the torque required) come out fine it should be a super simple swap.

They should also be the same '91-'02 so whatever you find in rust-free condition should swap on fine.

At the top right of this thread in the column header there is a search this thread option. I have no idea if it works though.

IF anyone finds a good set, let's get them 3D scanned and generate files to have them remade. That could help everyone here in the long run.

Do you have an economical way to make them from a CAD file?

I re-used mine, even though I thought they needed to be replaced. Each one is/was quite crusty, and one of them has additional ventilation. Both are bent up a bit from hammering them off the car....after being wire wheeled as best as I could, I then soaked them in Evaposrust (which didn't do as much as I had hoped) and then primed/painted them, and reassembled with anti-seize.
