Default A/C button stopped working

I just replaced the original battery on my Relay 2 and my A/C button suddenly stopped working. Do I have to replace the ENTIRE faceplate for the A/C and heating element, or is there a way to just replace the button? I'm getting [I]really[I] frustrated with the fact that mostly everything with the Relay's quickly becoming "dealer only". If that's the case, I'm getting rid of it and getting a Chevy!

Default Re: A/C button stopped working

There are two bulletins;

1-#05-01-38-014: A/C Temperature andMode Controls Inoperative, A/C Button Does Not Respond When Pressed, Pushbutton LED Indicators Brighter Than Rest of HVAC Control Head (Update HVAC Control Module Software) - (Oct 5, 2005)

Some customers may comment on any of the following conditions:

The Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system will not change modes when the customer selects a mode change.

The Air Conditioning (A/C) button is not functional. It does not respond when pressed.

When the headlights are on and the dimmer switch is at its maximum position, the pushbutton Light Emitting Diode (LED) indicators will be brighter than the rest of the HVAC control head.

On a vehicle with single zone control heads the temperature function will not operate properly.

A new calibration has been released to correct these conditions. Reprogram the HVAC Control Module with software/calibrations contained in GMNAO TIS version 9.5 or later, which was released on September 18, 2005.

2-#06-01-39-004E: EI06031 - HVAC Unable to Change Modes or Temperature, Inoperative, Poor A/C Performance (Reprogram HVAC Control Module) - (Feb 8, 2008)

Some customers may comment that they are unable to change the HVAC mode and/or temperature. Customers may also comment that the A/C may be inoperative or have poor performance.

Engineering has determined based on technician feedback that this concern may be caused by not having the updated HVAC control module software or due to a communication issue between the temperature door actuator and the control head.

Reprogram the HVAC Control Module with the latest calibration set to correct this issue.

A call to your local GM dealer is needed to see if yours was updated.
